Head-on, RM 2222 crash kills one, Three sent to hospitals Mon. night: Two more crashes on RM 2222 this morning

One man is dead after a head-on crash involved three vehicles on Monday night just before 9 p.m. on RM 2222 near McNeil Drive, according to the Austin Police Department.

When Austin-Travis County EMS arrived, a man in his 30s was unconscious and later pronounced dead at the scene in the 9200 block of RM 2222 on March 23, said Rick Rutledge, EMS captain.

Three others involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals including a female in her 50s. One of the crash victims was transported with serious injuries to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center and two others had minor injuries and were transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge.

The accident involved an SUV and two cars and the man who died was in one of the cars. Rutledge said that at least one vehicle was black and another silver and he didn’t know the color of the third vehicle.

APD said that the investigation is on-going as to what caused this accident.

Two more accidents on RM 2222 on Tuesday morning backed up traffic significantly and blocked lanes.

The cause of the backups started around 4 a.m. on March 24 near City Park Road, there was a sewage spill of some sort, said Jennifer Herber, APD spokesperson.

Then at 7:05 a.m. a call came in about a three -vehicle accident at the 9600 block of RM 2222 and Ribelin Ranch Road. There were no injuries reported in that crash, Herber said.
