Heritage Body & Frame — a 30-year, family-owned company — bought the former Cooke’s Automotive Body Shop, another long-time local car repair business. The move last summer has helped launch the chain of Heritage shops into a bigger service category.

Owned by Jason Borkland and his parents, Glenn and Betty, the shop is located on RM 2222, two blocks west of River Place and east of RM 620. It is the Borkland’s fourth location, with others on Pond Springs Road in North Austin, Cedar Park and Leander, respectively.

Heritage services include collision repair and, now, mechanical repair. The former Cooke’s location was set up for mechanical repair so Heritage decided to offer that service too.

The Four Points location has been the proving ground for success, said Borkland. “We are now offering mechanical repair in all of our locations,” he said.

“We are unique that we do collision and mechanical repairs. That is rare in the auto industry, to be able to perform both services. We really strive to be a one-stop shop,” said Borkland.

Among the mechanical services offered by Heritage are computer diagnostics, factory scheduled maintenance and repairs for engines, brakes, air conditioning and suspension and fuel systems. Collision services include paint repair, frame straightening and dent and hail repair.

With a personal history in the local area, Heritage’s move into the Four Points market was natural, said Borkland.

“We live in Lakeway, so in many ways, this was a very natural, organic expansion. We absolutely love the location and the land, which we cleaned and trimmed but also kept natural,” Borkland said.

“In some ways the location chose us,” he added. “The owner of Cooke’s Automotive was in the same industry and operated with a quality name. As she was looking to retire and exit the business, we were looking to expand.”

Open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, eight employees are on Heritage staff in Four Points. Company-wide, there are 32 employees.
