A Leander High School 2006 graduate and his wife, Jimmy and Lauren Allgood, opened Allgood Chiropractic & Family Wellness Center in Steiner Ranch on May 1.

The husband and wife doctor team chose to open locally because Four Points is where they want to build a future, and because of the sunsets.

“We decided on Steiner because it is the community and atmosphere we want to create a lasting future with,” said Jimmy, who went to Whitestone Elementary and Leander Middle School. “We are truly living a dream each and every day in our clinic and absolutely love our patients.”

Softball and chiropractic studies brought the two together.

Lauren is from New Orleans and she attended Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala. and Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La. on softball scholarships as a Division I left-handed pitcher.

After she began receiving chiropractic care, her back pain went away. She always thought the pain was just part of being a competitive athlete.

“I developed a passion for wanting to work with children and athletes to ensure that they were functioning optimally,” she said. This led her to pursue a certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association.

When Jimmy was a young boy, he fell during a baseball game and said he could not get up due to the intense pain. He was treated by a chiropractor immediately, and experienced instant relief from the pain.

“From that day forward, I knew that I wanted to become a chiropractor myself and improve the overall health and wellness in my hometown,” he said.

Jimmy attended Angelo State University on a baseball scholarship for about five weeks and then transferred to North Lake College in Irving, Texas.

After undergraduate school, Jimmy and Lauren met at Parker University in Dallas “playing, you guessed it, softball,” he said. They were both on the school’s national competitive team. “We actually met on the plane ride to compete in Florida. Our seats were mysteriously placed together on the ride there and back,” he recalled.

The two started dating. Jimmy would bring Lauren home to visit family and show her around. “She fell in love with Austin almost as much as I did,” he said. And all it took was a sunset on Lake Travis and they were hooked on the area, he added.

“We chose Steiner Ranch because we feel that it is the perfect community to grow our dream practice and family,” Lauren said.

The Allgoods live in Cedar Park but plan to move to Four Points when the timing is right. They like to spend time on the lake, run through the hill country, and hike all around the Austin area with their two dogs, Ace and Dino.

Jimmy and Lauren’s goal with Allgood Chiropractic is to reduce spinal misalignments and neuro-biomechanical imbalances, which allows the body to function optimally.

“Patients under chiropractic care usually experience a decrease in the symptoms associated with their conditions, better posture, improved sleep, increased energy, and an increased feeling of overall health and wellness,” Jimmy said.

“We would love the opportunity to get to know everyone in the area, and serve as their chiropractors,” Lauren said.

The Allgood Chiropractic hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., 3 p.m. – 6 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. – 1 p.m..
