Four Steiner Ranch homeowners reported vehicle burglaries on Sept. 8, and homeowners share some details on what was taken and what the criminal or criminals did afterwards.

The break ins happened on Rippling Creek Court, Country Lake Drive, Wild Canyon Loop and Oxen Way, all in the same general area of Steiner.

Tarren Kingsley’s wife’s vehicle was broken into and their security camera captured a video of the crime on Sept. 8 at about 1 a.m.

The car was in their driveway at their Wild Canyon Loop home.

“They did not take anything that we could tell,” Kingsley said. “In the first part of the video, they (the thief) had their hand or a cell phone up to their face and he had gloves on so they won’t be able to get fingerprints.”

On Tuesday morning, the Travis County Sheriff’s office called Kingsley back about the video.

An officer with the Travis County Sheriff’s Office dusted items for fingerprints the morning of Sept. 8 after four cases of vehicle burglaries in Steiner Ranch were reported.

The homeowner in the Country Lake Drive case said, “we lost (about) $1,000 worth of stuff out of our two cars… iPods, Beats headphones, sunglasses.”

“They used two different credit cards and an ATM/check card. Testing them all out,” she said.
One of stolen credit cards was used around 4 a.m. at a Shipley Do-Nuts shop. The criminal/s used cards at two H-E-B gas stations and at a Redbox in an estimated span of about 20 minutes.

“All the places they used credit cards were in Round Rock and on or near Parmer Lane… all the stores were close to each other,” the homeowner said.

In the Rippling Creek Court case, a subwoofer valued at more than $500 was stolen, tools to take the top down on their Jeep, and some childrens golf clubs, said the homeowner.

“I’m bummed no one saw them,” she said, adding that they are thankful their vehicles were not damaged on top of their items being stolen.

In the Oxen Way case, a truck and small SUV were broken into. “Although they did take some valuables, it looks like they were spooked and left in a hurry as they left other valuables that were in plain sight,” the homeowner stated on Nextdoor.

Another neighbor’s security system went off around 2:30 a.m. that same morning.

“Our investigation is underway,” said Kristen Dark, Travis County Sheriff’s Office public information officer.

TCSO officers dusted the scenes for fingerprints. The vehicles were all in the driveways.

“All of the vehicles were unlocked,” Dark said. She encourages people not to leave valuables in their vehicles and to lock the doors. “The solution is simple,” she said.

In addition to these cases, there have been a number of other reports made recently to the TCSO and Austin Police Department in the Four Points area. Local reports include a prostitution case, a strangulation case and assaults.
