On Sunday, some 300 guests attended Solidarity with the Community hosted by the Islamic Center of Lake Travis and Lake Travis United Methodist Church. The unity event — organized after fire destroyed the ICLT community center construction on Jan. 7 — involved several key leaders including (L-R): Junaid Siddiqi, Rehman Siddiqi and Shakeel Rashed (all three Steiner Ranch residents and on the ICLT board), Mufti Umer, Imam of UT Austin Mosque, Pastor Ray Kiser of LTUMC, and Nazneen Khan, Steiner resident and organizer of ICLT Sunday school. “This event — even though it’s in response to an unfortunate event — is really important. We really felt the love,” Rashed said.
