A man died after a head-on collision in the early morning hours of Oct. 27 on RM 620 near the entrance of Steiner Ranch, said Robbie Barrera, a Sergeant with the Texas Department of Public Safety.

“A 2013 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on RM 620 when the driver veered into southbound traffic striking a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu head-on,” Barrera said.

The crash, which involved four people in three vehicles, happened around 2 a.m. in the 5600 block of RM 620 N, near St. Luke’s on the Lake Episcopal Church, between Quinlan Park Road and Comanche Trail.

Samuel Zahar, 53, from Austin was the passenger of the Malibu. He was pronounced dead at 2:28 a.m. by Dr. Ackrel and was transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office, DPS records show.

At the time of the crash, “a 2013 Toyota Rav4 was traveling southbound in the outside lane and collided with the right rear quarter of the 2013 Toyota Camry, which came to rest in the southbound lanes after the crash,” Barrera said.

The driver of the Camry, Mia McKee, 24 from Spicewood, and the driver of the Malibu, Kenneth Reilley, 40 from Round Rock, were both transported to St. David’s Medical Round Rock, Barrera said.

Austin-Travis County EMS stated their injuries were serious but not expected to be life-threatening. The third person refused treatment.

DPS’ investigation into this case continues.
