620/2222 connector road to be finished spring 2021

A new bypass road will connect RM 620 and RM 2222 to the east of the Four Points intersection, improving mobility in this heavily traveled corridor. Elected officials joined the Texas Department of Transportation to break ground on the RM 2222/RM 620 Bypass project on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 10:30 a.m.

Texas Department of Transportation hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the bypass road which will connect RM 620 with RM 2222 by going along the power lines behind the officials with shovels. Brian Thompto, chairman of the Steiner Ranch Neighborhood Association, and Morgan Briscoe, West Austin Chamber of Commerce president, were among TxDOT and the city of Austin officials at the event this morning. This project will include a bypass road from about a mile north of Steiner Ranch Boulevard to RM 2222 as well as a raised median on RM 2222.

This is the second of two projects to improve mobility at the Four Points intersection. Project 1, which will widen RM 2222, broke ground in January and is expected to be complete by summer 2020, weather permitting. Project 2, which includes construction of the bypass road, is expected to be complete in spring 2021.
