Deputies with TCSO’s Lake Patrol Unit recovered the body of JACOB MARTINEZ, 23 of Donna, TX during the morning hours of July 15, 2021. The body was discovered during a shoreline search just north of the area where Martinez was reportedly last seen.

At 6:10 pm on July 10, 2021, TCSO responded to a report of a missing swimmer in the Sandy Creek Arm of Lake Travis. Multiple agencies responded and exhausted every effort to recover Martinez. The rescue transitioned to recovery at 6:57 pm.

In the days that followed, TCSO conducted shoreline searches daily. TCSO Lake Patrol boats searched using various types of sonar. They were assisted Tuesday by Texas Parks & Wildlife and Wednesday by Austin Police Department, who utilized their sonar systems. Starflight and TCSO’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) Unit conducted aerial searches. An underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle as well as Texas Search & Rescue K9s were also part of the search efforts.
