The Vandegrift football team advances in the playoffs to face the Steele Knights of Cibolo on Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. at Schertz Lehnhoff Stadium.

The Vipers beat San Marcos 52-14 on November 12 at home. “The 42 to nothing half time lead” showed how the Vipers overcame the Round Rock loss, said. Drew Sanders, VHS head coach

Vandegrift senior Jack Nelson after a catching a 50 yard, touchdown pass with a 1:22 left in the 2nd quarter of the November 12 game against San Marcos at Monroe Stadium.

He describes Steele as an extremely great team year in and year out. “They run the ball and play good defense,” Sanders said. “For us to have success, we have to be extremely prepared… be able to stop the run and prevent the big play.”

“Offensively we need to… efficiently mix the run and the pass… and being efficient in the red zone,” Sanders said. He would like to see the defense cause turnovers. “In playoff football, that makes you move to the next round.”
