Austin Rowing Club brings home gold & silver & bronze

Austin Rowing Club 1V 8+ boat members include: Kate Metteauer (coxswain), Holly Purvis, Natalie Jones, Ella Lilly, , Kate McBride, Lauren Nash (Vandegrift student 3rd from the right), Alexis Apostolakis, Annika Bliven and Avery Holt.

The Austin Rowing Club varsity women’s team took home two gold and one silver medal from the Head of the Oklahoma Race in Oklahoma City last month.

Lauren Nash, junior at Vandegrift, has been a member of the team since 2020. The ladies won 1st place out of nine teams in the women’s youth 4+ 4000K race October 2-3.

The ARC 1V 8+ boat took gold in the 4000k race and silver in the 500k Night Sprint.

Other Austin Rowing Club varsity women, men and masters boats also competed. Under the direction of coach Astrid Wettstein, the women also competed in Austin’s Head of the Colorado, the 37th annual PumpkinHead Regatta on October 30. They won third place.

Austin Rowing Club is central Texas’ only nonprofit rowing club and it is located inside the Waller Creek Boathouse.
