The Austin Police Department (APD) has identified Egypt Catai West as the deceased in this crash.
On December 29, 2021, APD responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 5900 block of FM 2222. The preliminary investigation shows that Ford F150 struck a solid waste collection truck in the inside lane of FM 2222. The contact caused the refuse truck to drive over a small concrete divider and into southbound traffic where it struck a Ford Escape, causing both vehicles to drive off the roadway. The drivers of the Ford F150 and collections truck were transported to the hospital and treated for non-life-threating injuries. The driver of the Ford Escape, Egypt West, was pronounced deceased on scene at 8:04 a.m. by Dr. Escott.
