The Vandegrift choir showcased holiday favorites by talented local students at its Winter Concert. The annual event was held December 5 at Hope Presbyterian Church under the direction of Emily Chandler, director of choirs and Emma Lee, associate director of choirs. Austin Haller was the accompanist.
The Chamber choir sang “Carol of the Bells” arranged by Wilhousky and dedicated “In loving memory of Dylan Deuillet, former VHS Choir Student.”
The Concert Treble choir performed “Lux Aeterna” by Jones, and “All I Want for Christmas Is You” arranged by Huff with Jewelle Bickham as soloist.
There was an audience sing-along of “Jingle Bells”.
The Concert Tenor Bass choir sang “Silent Snowfall” by Farnell and “Noel” by Singh.
The A Cappella choir performed “Hey Ho, Nobody’s Home” arranged by Gilpin,
“Merry Christmas, Darling” arranged by Huff with Evelyn Carpenter, Kirin Chheng, Maya Leach and Reva Surjan as a solo group with Casey Caldwell as the student conductor.
There was an audience sing-along of “Deck the Halls”.
The Chorale Tenor Bass choir sang “Noel” arranged by Sametz.
The Chorale Treble choir sang “Balulalow from A Ceremony of Carols” by Britten with Casey Caldwell as a soprano solo.
The Chamber choir performed “Ave Maria” by Victoria and “Eit barn er født i Bethlehem” arranged by Matre with Chad Ibison featured on guitar. The choir also sang “Sing We Now of Christmas” arranged by Prent.
The Chorale sang “Y’mei Hachanukah” arranged by Nash with Emma Lee at clarinet. The choir sand “Sweet Was the Song” by Clausen with Dhruva Vishnu, tenor solo.
There was an audience sing-along of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”.
All VHS choirs finished with “The Ground” by Ola Gjeilo.
