Vandegrift girls soccer end the season as state semi-finalists

Caitlin Sawyer, head coach of the Vandegrift girls soccer team, shared after the Aprill 4 game:

“Friday’s state semifinal ended in a hard-fought 1-0 loss, but the team showed incredible heart and resilience. Despite some close chances, we couldn’t find the equalizer after a second-half goal from our opponents. Our defense and goalkeeper kept us in the game, making key stops and preventing a larger margin. In the final minutes, we pushed forward with everything we had, but the goal just wouldn’t come. While it’s disappointing to fall short, making it to the state semifinals is a huge achievement. This team gave it their all, and we’ll take this experience into next season, stronger and more determined than ever. I am so proud to coach this team and wouldn’t change the season we had.”
