Sledding, snow angel making, snowman building, sliding, scraping, shoveling, and shuffling the dog were memorable parts of the winter storm that caused many closures including school January 26-27.
The winter storm hit Austin bringing accumulating ice and sleet. The storm began on January 23 and continued through the 25. Sleet was the main form of precipitation. An inch (give or take) of sleet, blanketed everything including roads and caused hazardous travel conditions. The storm also led to extreme cold temperatures, with wind chills dropping into the single digits. Many events were cancelled including schools Monday and Tuesday.
