There’s no more imposing team in Central Texas in Class 6A right now than Lake Travis.

The No. 3 Cavaliers are averaging 52 points a game and have scored 49 or more points in all but two of their games this season. They haven’t allowed but two touchdowns — both in the fourth quarter — at home in since the season-opener to Judson on Aug. 26. In district play, the Cavaliers have outscored their opponents 341-28.

And all of that with SMU-committed quarterback Charlie Brewer playing sparingly as coach Hank Carter had the ability to rest Brewer once the team jumped out to early leads in most of its games this season. Still, Brewer enters the final game of the regular season averaging 229 passing and 411 rushing yards a game. With 28 passing and 34 total touchdowns to his credit, Brewer has yet to throw an interception this season.

After two years, founder John Thoppil expands the practice he created — River Place OB/GYN — and now two local doctors care for women’s health.

“We were the first OB/GYN in Four Points. We would like to thank everyone for the support in our time here, and (now) we are very excited for the addition of Dr. Shepherd to our staff,” Thoppil said.

Not only do many women prefer a female provider but the addition of Shepherd will also increase access to care for River Place OB/GYN patients.

“Currently, I am in the hospital at least one day a week for surgery. We will now have a physician here every day of the workweek,” said Thoppil.

Canyon Ridge Middle School was vandalized over the weekend of Oct. 22-23.

“It is saddening and disheartening that students would find damaging property fun. I am truly disappointed that our beautiful building has been treated in this way,” said Susan Sullivan, CRMS principal.

Vandals spray painted and exterior wall with crude images of penises, a “tag” and the phrases “Middle school f****t fight me” and “Show me your d**c (sic) f****t.” (The graffiti included misspellings.)
