The Bhatts of River Place are doing well this summer and thriving, just two years after a devastating accident that put three members of the family in the hospital after they were struck by a SUV while on a walk.

Kunjan reported that Sapna, 8-years-old, is an avid singer, reader and will enter fourth grade this fall, while 5-year-old Devan is “rambunctious” and looking ahead to first grade. Roopal has fully resumed her medical practice with Four Points Dermatology and she has another office in the Mueller area.

Just two years ago, Roopal, Sapna and Devan were struck by a SUV while on a walk and ended up in the hospital with serious injuries.

Steiner Ranch resident Tony Korman and his wife walk 5 ½ miles along Quinlan Park Road four or five days a week. While he enjoys the exercise, Korman said he has become increasingly frustrated by drivers who refuse to let him and his wife cross the street.

Korman said they have nearly been hit on multiple occasions by cars who refuse to stop while they are crossing the street in the crosswalk.

“People do not stop at that crosswalk,” Korman said. “I’m tired of it.”

The couple has lived in Steiner Ranch for five years and Korman said he’s noticed the problem getting worse.

“It’s insane,” he said. “I’ve had people flip me off because I’m in the crosswalk.”

Danielle Deuillet said she’s also seen the problem get worse over the eight years she has lived in Steiner Ranch. She said while she was stopped at a crosswalk so a young boy could cross, a car came up behind her and sped around her, narrowly missing the boy.

“I was completely speechless that this woman had absolutely no care at all for how reckless that was,” Deuillet said. Continue reading →

Clara had no intention of drunk driving the night she was arrested for driving while intoxicated.

That night, she had plans with friends. Her son was out of town for the weekend and she was going to a tailgate party. By the time she arrived at the event, though, there was no food left. Clara, which isn’t her real name, stayed long enough to socialize and have a glass of wine, then left in search of food.

She found an open restaurant in Lakeway, but they had already closed the kitchen. After another glass of wine at the bar and half-way into a second glass, she realized she was tired and needed to go to bed.

On her way home to Steiner Ranch, as Clara navigated a dark and windy back road, another vehicle swerved into her lane. She turned sharply to avoid a head-on collision and drove off the road. Her car hit a fence and a utility pole, totalling her vehicle. Her airbags deployed and, unbeknownst to her, she was knocked unconscious. Continue reading →
