Mighty Fine comes to Steiner  with its first food truck

Mighty Fine Burgers Fries Shakes launched its new food truck last week and will have a regular stop in Steiner Ranch on Thursday evenings at the Gene Arant Team office parking lot at 4304 Quinlan Park Rd.

“I think it’ll be a great family outing. There’s not a lot of convenient restaurants to Steiner or the area,” said local resident Marlis Oliver, executive director of K&N Management, which founded and owns Austin-area Mighty Fine Burgers Fries Shakes as well as Rudy’s Country Store & BBQ.

“Having Mighty Fine (in Steiner) one night a week will be a lot of fun,” Oliver said.

From 5 – 9 p.m. on Thursdays, Mighty Fine will serve 95 percent of the same menu as its four permanent locations in Greater Austin including freshly ground hamburger from chuck roast, fresh cut French fries and handmade milkshakes, said Oliver, a 12-year Steiner resident and a 16-year K&N executive.

It takes five people to run the truck and they can produce up to 200 burgers an hour, Oliver said.

He and some team members picked up the new Mighty Fine food truck the weekend before last in San Antonio. The 34-foot Freightliner is a 2015 model and has the same equipment as used in  Mighty Fine restaurants.

The new food truck will make the rounds each week to dedicated locations throughout Greater Austin. Sometimes it will modify its schedule due to bad weather or to be part of various festivals including South by Southwest.

“(The idea for a food truck) came about because we felt like it was a great next step for us,” Oliver said.

He knows Gene Arant and approached him with the idea to park the new food truck in the Arant parking lot. The Steiner HOA gave permission for the Mighty Fine deal.

“The plan is to bring the truck in and block off an area with tables,” said Arant, whose real estate team earlier this month received the Keller Williams top performing team award in the region, and ranked 3rd in the nation based on gross, closed sales income and units sold in 2014.

Arant said the back patio of their offices may be opened up for seating too, and the nearby hillside with oak trees is being cleaned up if people want to sit there. The Arant office building will also be open for restrooms.

“I think it’s a great opportunity to offer something different in Steiner,” Arant said.

Oliver echoed those thoughts, “We’re real excited and  just hope it will be a fun, family outing.”
