The Steiner Ranch Stars swim team completed its 2016 season earlier this month and sent 185 qualified swimmers to the Northwest Swim Circuit invitational meet at Texas A&M University on July 10.

The invitational meet is put on by the NWSC for all 16 teams in the circuit, swimmers must have a qualifying time to be able to participate.

“Both Steiner Stars Red and Blue (teams) had a wonderful season, with swimmers improving their strokes, flip turns, starts and times in backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke and freestyle,” said Sandra Denny, co-president with her husband Brian. “The swimmers not only learned better technique but sportsmanship, teamwork and community, and they made new friends!”

Formed in 2001, the private, non-profit swim team has grown include more than 500 swimmers from Steiner Ranch ages 5-17.

The Stars Red and Blue teams each had seven swim meets prior to the invitational meet and competed against other summer swim teams including the Rattan Creek Hurricanes, Brushy Creek Marlins, Round Rock Dolphins, Georgetown Aquadillos and Cedar Park Typhoons.

“The Steiner Stars swim team would like to thank the Steiner Ranch community and HOA for their support in our 2016 season,” Denny said. “We could not have run two team practices and four home meets without the help and consideration from our own community.”
