LISD shares COVID-19 update: Notifications, contact tracing & new dashboard data

From Leander ISD on Aug. 6, 2021 @ 4:03 p.m.

With back-to-school around the corner, the health and safety of our students, staff, and families remain a top priority. In an effort to maintain transparency during these uncertain times, we will be resuming the communication protocols for reporting COVID-19 positive cases. If there is a positive case on your campus, we will send a campus-wide notification via Remind. We will also be updating the Leander ISD COVID dashboard with the daily positive cases

Due to the fact that children in PreK–6th grade have not been provided the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19, LISD will be conducting contact tracing for this age group. If your child is identified via contact tracing as a close contact with the positive individual, you will receive an additional notification letter. If you receive notification that your child has been identified as a close contact your campus nurse will be available during normal school hours to answer questions.

Because children in grades 7–12 have the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19, LISD will provide the classes/periods impacted by the positive individual. If your child is in one of the impacted classes and you have questions, your campus nurse will be available during normal school hours to answer questions.

How to report my child is positive: For students who are identified as COVID-19 positive, we are asking parents/guardians to complete this form to notify the district. This is the preferred method of notification of a positive student. Please note, this will be the only way to report a positive student case during weekends and holiday breaks.
