OBITUARY Graylan Paul Spring  February 10, 2003 – January 21, 2023

Graylan Paul Spring, 19, of Austin, TX passed away after a tragic car accident on January 21, 2023.

Graylan was a beautiful child of God. He was a beloved son and brother, a cherished friend and a respected teammate. Born and raised in Austin, TX, Graylan followed in the footsteps of his parents’ alma mater as a student athlete at Stephen F. Austin University as a promising wide receiver on the football team. He was studying entrepreneurial business in the hopes to one day join his brothers in a family enterprise.

From a very young age it was evident that Graylan was an exceptionally gifted athlete. With the ardent support of his parents, Graylan spent countless hours developing his skill in every sport imaginable. He grew into a fierce competitor in football and track & field and enjoyed the comradery of playing baseball and basketball with his friends at Vandegrift. He earned many accolades for his performance as a Viper but of all his athletic attributes, Graylan’s love for his teammates motivated his passion for sports.

Graylan was much more than a driven and talented athlete. He was a devoted son, brother, and friend to all. He walked his faith and inspired people to live light heartedly, accept others, and follow their own inner compass.  His zest for life was contagious and his open and selfless heart prepared him for whatever God put in his path. Graylan was diligent in completing the Sacraments of his Catholic faith at St. Thomas More. He was also very active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Athletes in Action at Vandegrift and SFA.

Graylan is survived by his parents Gary and Krista Spring and brothers, Garrison and Grant Spring of Austin, TX. Grandparents Shirley Vicknair of Bridge City, TX and Gary Spring Sr. of Kingsland, TX.
