Jeep flips, catches fire in 620 crash

By LYNETTE HAALAND, Four Points News

A Jeep crossed RM 620 into oncoming traffic, and was hit by a car before it flipped and burst into flames upon impact near the entrance of Steiner Ranch on July 29, video shows.

According to the video from a rear camera of a car in front of the accident, a northbound vehicle just exited Quinlan Park Road and had its turn signal on to switch lanes. That SUV moved in front of the black Jeep Gladiator. Seconds later the driver of the Jeep pulled around the SUV and tried to pull in front of it but lost control and went into oncoming traffic where a white car was coming toward it and crashed into it.

Travis County Sheriff’s Office responded to the collision and assisted DPS and Lake Travis Fire Rescue.

“The collision was reported at 8:29 p.m. It involved two vehicles and one of them caught fire,” confirmed Kristen Dark, TCSO spokesperson.

Someone posted on Facebook that their son helped pull the driver of the Jeep to safety before the fire fully engulfed the Jeep.

The incident at 5500 block of RM 620 caused massive delays and sent at least one person to the hospital.

“One with critical injuries was taken to a medical facility in Round Rock,” said Sgt. Deon Cockrell, Texas Department of Public Safety. “I was advised by the investigating trooper that a subject was transported to a medical facility with serious injuries. It is not a fatality crash.”
