A new pediatric dentistry office is now open in River Place focusing on making trips to the dentist fun for kids.

Located at 6618 Sitio Del Rio Blvd., Ste B102, Austin Pediatric Dentistry opened in March and has created “fun distractions” for kids, Lucas said. They have a projected, interactive game to draw kids in while parents check in, and iPads for each child while they’re being treated.

“Technology isn’t just for fun though, we use all digital X-ray for the lowest dose, and specialized video so parents can see anything we need to discuss,” Lucas said. “Sometimes cavities do happen; if so, we talk about what is urgent and what can wait. Since I’m always here, I get to know my patients, and they get comfortable with seeing the same doctor. If an emergency should arise, I’m always available for my patients as well.”

The practice offers a full range of pediatric dentistry, from routine cleanings to restorations. If needed, they can offer sedation for anxious children.

Prior to opening Austin Pediatric Dentistry, Lucas was in practice for eight years in Iowa and Minnesota. She chose Four Points to open her practice because she felt it would be convenient for busy, working families.

“We love the convenient location — we’re easy to reach for so many busy families,” she said.

Lucas said her mission is to deliver quality, state-of-the-art dental care for every child.

“We are focused on prevention, so we spend a lot of time educating both parents and children on teaching the best way to maintain healthy oral conditions and prevent future cavities,” she said.

Austin Pediatric Dentistry does community outreach. The staff hosts field trips from daycare and kindergarten classes, and their team does community presentations on brushing techniques and healthy foods.

Lucas said her favorite part of her job is seeing the enthusiasm of her patients.

“Kids’ dentistry is less complex than adult dentistry in some ways,” she said. “The true skill in pediatric dentistry is getting the treatment done smoothly for the child, in a caring and fun manner.”

Austin Pediatric Dentistry is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit www.atxkidsdentist.com or call (512) 900-5437.
