An annual event called Bike Ride to River Place Elementary was held recently and nearly 50 kids joined in the fun.

The ride was grown each year from a dozen kids to around 50 RPE students this year, said Diane McGaugh.

She started this event about eight years ago when her oldest son was in the 2rd grade  and has been coordinating it ever since. By now all three of her kids Aiden, Von and Macy have enjoyed the event.

The ride starts at Sun Tree Park and this year was held on May 17, the same date as the “Austin Ride Your Bike to Work” day.

“The kids have a blast riding to school and the parents help out with making sure every kid is safe crossing the roads since many people are leaving for work at this early morning hour,” McGaugh said.
