The Vandegrift Band and Vision Dance Company’s March-a-Thon fundraiser reached some $90,000 by Wednesday, just a few days after the band marched through the streets of Steiner Ranch for four hours.
The July 31st event started at 8 a.m. and ended around noon. Band booster parents helped with the event, some even drove a trailer full of water jugs for the Vipers to keep cool.
The fundraiser provided music and entertainment as well as providing personal curbside mini-concerts for those who donate $200 or more.
Funds are raised for equipment, meals, travel expenses and uniforms for the Texas top-ranked program. Upcoming trips include to The Midwest Clinic in Chicago in December as well as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in November 2022.
Mike Howard, VHS director of bands, was grateful for the donations.
“This year we boast a nearly 400-student marching and dance ensemble of the best and brightest students from VHS,” Howard said.
