Vandegrift cheerleaders sign to cheer at next level

The Vandegrift cheerleading team had three students participate in the end-of-the-season signing for Texas universities. The event was held on May 20 at VHS.

Coach Brianna Roughton was beaming as she introduced each cheerleader and their prospective college: Jenna Tjelmeland, Southern Methodist University in Dallas and Tori Jennings and Kate Cummings, both who are attending Baylor University in Waco.

“I am so proud of each of these athletes,” Roughton said. “They are all three incredible cheerleaders and it’s been a joy to watch them grow as cheerleaders and people over the past four years. I can’t wait to see all of the great things they accomplish as collegiate cheerleaders.”

Vandegrift class of 2021 graduate and cheerleader captain Kate Cummings committed her intention to attend Baylor University and cheer for the all-girl Baylor cheer team. She will major in child and family studies.
Vandegrift class of 2021 graduate Jenna Tjelmeland signed her intention to attend Southern Methodist University in Dallas where she will cheer for the SMU Mustangs and major in biology.
Vandegrift class of 2021 graduate Tori Jennings signed a commitment to attend Baylor University and cheer for the all-girls Baylor Bear cheer team. She is majoring in medical humanities.
