At 12:10 a.m. on July 17, Lake Travis Fire Rescue, Austin Fire Department, and Cedar Park Fire Department responded to a brush alarm in the 5000 block of Mansfield View Ct.

“Fireworks started the fire,” said Rachel Neutzler, LTFR spokesperson. There were no injuries reported.

The fire took place in the Strawberry Hills neighborhood, right across from RM 620 near Quinlan Park Road at the entrance of Steiner Ranch.

“Two homes are reported to have fire damage, one roof and one balcony area, damage is minimal,” Neutzler said. “Firefighters quickly stopped the fire from entering the homes.”

Two southbound lanes of 620 were closed during the incident.

The fire was under control and in the mop-up stage at around 1:30 a.m. – 2 a.m.

“At 4:15 a.m., the fire was called out by incident command, and crews began picking up fire hoses and began to demobilize,” Neutzler shared.

Firefighters will be checking on the area during the morning and throughout the day to ensure the fire did not reignite.

“Conditions are very dry. We encourage everyone to take precautions when it comes to fireworks, outdoor burning, equipment usage, and BBQing. Anything that can cause a spark can start a wildland fire,” LTFR shared on Twitter.
