Tacara Steiner Ranch, a 246-unit apartment complex under construction at 4306 Quinlan Park Road, has leased two dozen units so far and expects construction to be finished by March.

“The views are amazing, and we are doing hard hat tours of the leasing office,” said Monica Felan, Tacara community manager.

Response has been great, she said, and as of this week, the clubhouse and leasing office are nearing completion and 25 units have been leased.

Weather permitting, the first units will be available next month and expected to follow the timeline of: one bedrooms available in November, two bedrooms in December, and three bedrooms in January 2017.

“We will finish all buildings by the end of March 2017,” Felan said.

Vandegrift HS Homecoming Parade & Pep Rally

The Vandegrift Homecoming Parade and Pep Rally was a huge community-wide hit last Wednesday, Oct. 5.

Viper organizations had floats and members marching in the parade. The route around VHS was lined with hundreds of spectators. PTSA donated prize money for the float contest.

Rob and Sandy Falgout of Texas Malibu let Four Points Pop Warner teams use many of their boats for floats.

The pep rally featured the UIL Lone Star Cup presentation. Philip and Melissa Busker of Mattress Firm coordinated the donation of the fireworks show and American Fireworks discounted the show for Vandegrift.dsc_7074dsc_7337

Before, she drove to McNeil Drive worried about tests, memorizing her lines for the theatre, studying for her AP classes, and boy drama. Now, she drives to McNeil worried about the tests she is giving, whether or not her students memorized their lines for the theatre, and directing the next Four Points show.
Maria Taylor graduated in the first class to go through all four years at Vandegrift. She was involved in theatre, FCCLA, student council, ASL, dance and QUEST. She also took Ready, Set, Teach and went to nationals twice, placing second in the nation. After graduation, she went to Texas State University and accomplished her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. Taylor recently began her first year of teaching at FPMS as the theater director.
