Giddy Up Gala breaks records

By LYNETTE HAALAND, Four Points News

Final numbers are still be tabulated, but it appears the Hill Country Education Foundation’s 4th annual Giddy Up Gala netted over $105,000 and far exceeding last year’s net of $74,000.

“We were excited to see so many new faces participate in this fundraising event as well as seeing the continued support of individuals for the past four years,” said Michelle Beck, HCEF’s vice president and Gala chair.

This year’s Fund-A-Need – “Making VHS a Top Rated School” – raised $21,800. These funds will be used to fund the school’s academic UIL teams, provide additional professional development to teachers and continue HCEF’s support for the school’s PSA team,

“It continues to be the social event of the year for the Four Points community, selling out 390 tickets in only 10 days,” Beck said.

Special thanks to Martha Moring Photography , the event photographer.

“When I left the business, I pretty much decided I wasn’t going to work for anybody,” Goldsworth said. “That was my big driver.”

The two childhood friends have known each other since elementary school, growing up in Iowa. They knew they both wanted to do something that allowed them to stay closer to home. Coincidentally, while brainstorming ideas for what to do next, the two independently had the same idea – buy a 7-Eleven franchise, and not just one franchise but ultimately at least five. By LYNETTE HAALAND, Four Points News

Home sales in Four Points were strong in 2013 with the dominant trends being low inventories, higher prices and more sales.

“We are in the most unique real estate market in my 31 years as an agent or broker,” said Tim Moncrief, co-owner of Bartlett Real Estate Group Keller Williams Realty.

Inventory levels are at 10 year lows, while sales at 10 year highs. Four Points homes sales last year hit an all-time record high, he said.
