A new 65,000-square-foot self-storage facility will be constructed at the intersection of RM 620 and Marshall Ford Road, across from Randalls grocery store.

Crews are breaking ground this week on All Stor Self Storage, according to Brendan Callahan, development associate at Endeavor Real Estate Group. He said the project is owned by Endeavor and local partners.

The facility will be a three-story, climate-controlled self-storage facility and should be completed by next winter, Callahan said.

Crews are expected to break ground this week on All Stor Self Storage, a new 65,000-square-foot facility being built near this intersection at RM 620 and Marshall Ford Road, across from Quinlan Crossing.

This will be the third All Stor Self Storage in Austin. The other two are located on South First Street and Brodie Lane in south Austin.

Brian Thompto, chairman of the Steiner Ranch Neighborhood Association, said his primary concern is the aesthetics of the new facility. He said that while most developments on RM 620 that are within the Austin city limits fall under the Hill Country Corridor Ordinance, the law which limits height, setback, signage and lights, this property is not included in the ordinance.

“If they want to appeal to this community, then having a nice looking structure that blends well into the area will promote that,” Thompto said.  “It would be nice if the property can have a decent standard of building and at least moderate amount of landscaping. That is important to people around here.”

While he said he doesn’t have a rendering of the project, Callahan said residents can get an idea of what it will look like by seeing the other two facilities on their website www.allstortx.com.

“From a landscaping perspective, it will fit into the existing terrain and look of that part of town,” Callahan said.

He said while the tract of land consists of three pad sites with more than eight acres, the storage facility will occupy only two sites and the third site, directly on the corner, is still for sale.

He said a market study was completed to determine the feasibility of the project.

“It comes down to the attractive demographics of the Steiner Ranch community,” Callahan said.2014-02-18 10.05.13
