FPPW football makes it to national stage

The Four Points Pop Warner Viper football team played in the national championship games last month.

Local Four Points Pop Warner Viper football players are the Southwest Regional Champions for the first time ever.

The 10 and 11-year-old boys from the Four Points area had an undefeated regular season before defeating the Carter Texas Cowboys to become the Southwest Division 3 Champions.

Prior to this win, the team received a letter from Tom Herman, University of Texas head football coach, who congratulated them on their success. Herman wished the team his best as they represented Texas in the SW Championship.

The Vipers then went to the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in the Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando Dec. 2 – 6 to compete in the national championship games.

“What makes this extra special is that this is the first Pop Warner Viper team to make it to Orlando for the Championship,” said Daniel Davis, team parent. “These kids worked so hard to reach this goal.”

They played against the Trojans from Jacksonville and the Florida Raiders. The FPPW Vipers ended up losing both bowl games

“(But) we are still very proud that they made it,” Davis said. “These seasons are hard to come by and leave lifelong memories for our local boys and girls (FPPW Cheer) in the program.”
