High speed, a curve in the road, and the RM 2222 construction zone were all factors in a motorcycle fatality that happened just after 11 p.m. on Monday, July 22 near the Shell gas station just east of RM 620.

“A motorcycle was observed traveling eastbound on 2222 at a high rate of speed. The posted speed limit is 45 mph and it is a construction zone,” according to the Austin Police Department detective who is working on the ongoing investigation.

“The preliminary investigation shows the motorcycle left the roadway for an unknown reason, where it crashed in the construction area just north of 2222,” the APD accident report indicates. “The 11000 block the road does slightly curve to the left.”

The single vehicle crash occurred around 11:09 p.m.

When Austin-Travis County EMS medics arrived on the scene, a white male who was 38-years-old, was unconscious after a motorcycle crash.
