The dynamic husband and wife duo from Austin – Scott and Tiffini Cunningham – have passed away after a March 18 accident in Phoenix during spring break.
Brant Troutman, Tiffini’s brother, described the couple as “Independent. Fiercely loyal.”
A Celebration of Life Service for Scott and Tiffini will be held on April 30 at 10:30 am at Austin Christian Fellowship.

The Scott and Tiffini were high school sweethearts who ended up marrying and having three children and lived in Steiner Ranch for many years. In mid March, they took their family on a trip to Arizona for a college visit for their oldest, a son who has plans to play baseball in college.
Scott and Tiffini’s families shared about the beloved couple: Scott was a loving husband and father. Tiffini was a loving mother to her three precious children, and an amazing stylist in the salon community.
“It is with grieving hearts that we share this story. Our hearts have been shattered by tragedy,” the family states on the GoFundMe “Cunningham and Troutman” page. “They would want us to pour into their amazing children.”
Cade, Carly and Leila are Vandegrift students – a 18-year-old senior and 17-year-old juniors – and the baseball and soccer communities are surrounding them as well as family, neighbors, friends and the entire Four Points community.
Sadly the family was involved in a deadly crash in the afternoon of March 18.
Tiffini died of her injuries right away, according to police, and Scott died last week on March 30 after spending 12 days in the hospital.
Prior to his death, Scott was in critical condition and suffered a traumatic brain injury along with multiple other injuries. He was in a medically induced coma in the ICU where he was monitored 24 hours a day.
A CaringBridge post from a family member on the evening of March 30 shared: “Please pray for our family. Scott is no longer suffering and has joined Tiffini in Heaven.”
Phoenix 3TV/CBS 5 reported the fatal accident happened at the intersection of 40th Street and Cactus Road. The three Cunningham children were taken to the hospital initially and later released.
“We prayerfully ask for your financial help and continued prayers for their family,” the family organizers stated. “With deep gratitude in advance, we thank anyone that can help this family during the long journey that lies ahead. God bless all!”
The GoFundMe page set up on March 20 had raised more than $140,000 from 784 donors in two days. As of April 7, over $189,340 was raised by 1,200 donors.
Hundreds gathered to pray for the Cunningham family at a prayer vigil on March 22 at Towne Square Community Center in Steiner Ranch. Another prayer vigil was scheduled for March 30 at Hill Country Bible Church Steiner.
