Rescuers find body of missing swimmer but cannot resuscitate

An adult died in Lake Travis after bystanders shared they were unable to locate a swimmer who went under water and did not resurface, according to a tweet by ATCEMS. 

First responders were called to a water rescue at 6200 Bob Wentz Park Rd. just before 2 p.m. on July 20.

Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, Austin Fire Department, Lake Travis Fire Rescue and STAR Flight Travis County all responded to the scene at Windy Point on Lake Travis just off of Comanche Trail in Four Points.

“Rescue swimmers were able to locate the patient after approx five minutes of searching, and moved the patient to the shore,” the ATCEMS tweet shared. “ATCEMS medics performed extensive resuscitative measures but were ultimately unsuccessful.”

The “water rescue” obtained a “deceased on scene” pronouncement of an adult patient, ATCEMS tweeted. They left the scene around

“We are investigating the death and I have no information about that to bring forward at this time,” said Kristen Dark, TCSO spokesperson.
