Girl Scouts Troop 2366 launch Operation Library

L-R: Girl Scouts of the USA Trisha Gupta, Aurora Ullate, Martina Ullate, Sahana Pandey, Zoey Prasla, and Zia Momin are working on bringing A Little Free Library in Steiner Ranch.

Troop 2366 Girl Scouts of the USA is launching Operation Library because the scouts noticed that there are not any public libraries throughout the area.

Troop 2366 identified two Little Free Library locations in  Steiner Ranch. In Towne Square, it will be between the community center and the basketball courts, where the roundabout for the cars is and the sidewalk too. In Bella Mar, it will be between the community center and the mailboxes, where there is a path with a bench. The scouts are planning to set it by the bench so that people can sit and read, shared Silvia Zolfanelli, troop leader and mom of Scouts Aurora and Martina Ullate.

The scouts made a presentation at the February 21 Steiner Ranch Master Association meeting. The SMRA approved their plans.

Last weekend, the girls started building their libraries, which are about the size of a blue US Postal Service box. They hope to have them installed in May.

“We’ll get books at a book drive we’re hosting,” Martina shared. “And when the books are put up, you’ll take a book to read and you can also put books you don’t need in the little libraries.”

The motto is: “Take a book, Share a book.”

“It will enrich the reading community and be free and accessible to all, open at any time of the day or year,” Martina said.
