About 30 River Place Elementary students rode their bikes from Sun Tree Park to school on May 18.

“It just happened to be National Ride Your Bike to Work Day and that was just a coincidence,” said Diane McGaugh, organizer of the event.

For about the last six or seven years, McGaugh has organized a bike ride from Sun Tree Park to RPE on one of the last Fridays of school.

“I started doing this with my oldest son Aiden and have continued with my younger kids Von and Macy,” McGaugh said.

Many parents participated as well.

“Next year I hope to ride again on National Bike to Work Day, which is May 17, 2019,” McGaugh said. “I hope for the group to be even bigger next year. It is open to everyone.”
